About

Broad St. Gamer is a blog offering commentary and retrospect on the video game industry, coming from the perspective of a college kid from the Philadelphia suburbs. The goal of the blog is to offer a unique take on the video games I enjoy, along with the pros and cons of the latest happenings within the industry.

The blog is managed solely by me, Nick Tricome, at the moment.

Here are some quick facts about me...
- My first console was a hand-me-down NES with the Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt combo cartridge, Contra, Tecmo Bowl and Ice Hockey.
- The NHL series from EA Sports is my all-time favorite since NHL 98 on the first Playstation. I buy each year's game no matter what, but I'll admit, NHL 15 isn't good at all.
- I don't really dislike any genre, but my preference is more toward sports, music, adventure, platform and open world games.
- I have no particular bias toward Playstation or Xbox. There are things to like about both sides, and I don't believe that one is particularly better than the other. I had an Xbox 360 last generation, and loved it until it red-ringed last year, and I own a PS4 now, and am liking what it has to offer so far.
- It's always a priority for me, however, to get the latest Nintendo Console. C'mon, guys. There is no way I'm missing out on Zelda or Smash Bros.
- Also, I'm not much of a PC guy. I realize why a lot of people elect to play games on their PC. But, with the exception of Minecraft, I don't really play games on my laptop and won't get much into that space here. Sorry, PC gamers.

One more thing; this blog was created as a project for one of my classes. However, I want to make this more than just a grade. I want this to be a place where I can openly talk about what I believe is the coolest entertainment medium in the world, and create discussion with the millions of other people out there who feel the same way.

I'm also on Twitter @itssnick. You'll be awesome in my book if you give me a follow.

And before you type anything negative...yes, I know I suck. Be nice.
